What are SEO services?
SEO services are the ongoing technical, content and authority work that makes a website easier for search engines to crawl, understand and rank. A complete engagement covers six areas, and the reporting that tells you which of them is working.
What separates useful SEO from expensive activity is the order the work happens in. Publishing more pages on a site Google struggles to crawl wastes budget. Fixing crawl depth on a site whose pages don't match search intent wastes it differently. The sequence matters more than the checklist, which is why every engagement here begins with diagnosis rather than deliverables.
How most SEO runs
- Publish
- Optimize
- Investigate
Budget goes out before anyone knows what the ceiling is.
How it runs here
- Diagnose
- Prioritize
- Publish
The ceiling comes off first, so everything after it compounds.
The six questions a diagnosis answers, in order
- 01Technical SEOCan search engines reach, render and index your pages at all?
- 02On-page SEODoes each page match the intent behind the query it targets?
- 03Content strategyDo your pages cover the topic deeply enough to be the best answer?
- 04Local SEODo you appear when someone nearby searches with buying intent?
- 05Link buildingDo other credible sites treat you as worth referencing?
- 06Analytics and reportingCan you tell which changes moved the numbers?
Where growth actually stalls
Why most SEO work looks busy and moves nothing
These are the patterns we find most often when a business has been doing SEO for months with no movement. Each one is diagnosable from data you already have.
The page is visible but nobody chooses it
Google already shows the page. Titles, snippets, intent match or trust signals aren't strong enough to earn the click, so traffic stays flat while impressions climb. We cover the fix in detail in how to fix low CTR pages in Search Console.
On-page SEO →Blogs collect the links, service pages get nothing
Navigation and internal linking quietly route authority into informational posts while the pages that generate enquiries sit three clicks deep with almost no contextual support.
Content strategy →Crawling and indexing cap the ceiling
Crawl depth, redirect chains, canonical conflicts, rendering problems and schema gaps rarely cause a dramatic drop. They just put a lid on how far good content can travel.
Technical SEO →Rankings hold but clicks fall anyway
AI Overviews and zero-click results are absorbing queries that used to send traffic. Impressions rise, clicks don't. We unpack what's changing in the future of SEO in AI search.
AI search visibility →What we do
Six services, scoped to your diagnosis
Technical, on-page, content, local and authority work all pull the same rope, and we scope whichever combination the diagnosis calls for. Consulting is the exception: it buys direction while your team keeps the execution.
Technical SEO
Crawlability, indexation, site architecture, redirects, canonicals, schema, page speed, JavaScript rendering and XML sitemaps.
Best for: Indexing problems, migrations, redesigns. Technical SEO services → ExecutionOn-Page SEO
Title tags, headings, metadata, keyword targeting, content structure, internal links, FAQs and conversion clarity.
Best for: Pages that rank but don't earn clicks. On-page SEO → ExecutionContent Strategy
Topic clusters, search-intent maps, content refreshes, briefs and the internal linking paths that connect them to business pages.
Best for: Scattered blogs and weak topical depth. Content strategy → ExecutionLocal SEO & Google Business
Google Business Profile, local landing pages, service-area signals, citations, NAP consistency and review strategy.
Best for: Businesses that need map-pack visibility. Local SEO → ExecutionLink Building & Authority
Backlink profile review, competitor link gaps, relevant outreach, brand mentions, link reclamation and authority planning.
Best for: Good content that lacks trust signals. Link building → DirectionSEO Consulting
A senior SEO consultant for teams that execute in-house: Search Console analysis, audits, ranking-drop diagnosis, roadmap planning and implementation review.
Best for: Teams that can execute but need direction. How consulting works →How an engagement runs
How an engagement runs: diagnosis before activity
Six stages, run in sequence. You see the reasoning at every step and always know why a task is on the list before it gets done.
-
Stage 01
Business & goal review
Services, audience, target markets, revenue pages and current position, so the work connects to outcomes rather than vanity metrics.
-
Stage 02
Search Console & SERP diagnosis
Queries, pages, clicks, impressions, CTR and live SERP behavior, to see what Google currently rewards in your space.
-
Stage 03
Technical & on-page audit
Crawlability, indexing, metadata, headings, content quality, schema, performance and internal link structure.
-
Stage 04
Keyword-to-page mapping
One page per keyword cluster, so the site stops competing with itself and each URL has an unambiguous job.
-
Stage 05
Priority roadmap
Growth blockers separated from low-impact noise, with a clear order of work and the reasoning behind it.
-
Stage 06
Implement, measure, refine
Changes shipped, performance tracked against baseline, strategy adjusted on evidence rather than assumption.
The actual deliverable
What you receive: a priority roadmap, not a task list
Most SEO reporting tells you what happened. A roadmap tells you what to do next and why it comes before everything else. This is the format every SearchCounselCo engagement produces. A real extract, with client details removed.

| Issue | Area | Priority | Effort | Why it ranks here | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Category pages excluded by canonical conflict | Technical | P1 | Dev · 4h | Blocks 140+ commercial URLs from indexing. Nothing downstream matters until this clears. | Done |
| Two pages targeting the same buyer query | On-page | P1 | Content · 6h | Cannibalization splitting signals across both URLs; neither ranks. Consolidate, then 301. | Done |
| Service pages 4 clicks from homepage | Internal links | P1 | Dev · 3h | Money pages receiving almost no internal equity while blog posts absorb it. | In progress |
| High-impression pages with sub-1% CTR | On-page | P2 | Content · 5h | Already ranking, already visible. Title and snippet rewrites are the cheapest available gain. | In progress |
| Product schema missing availability + price | Technical | P2 | Dev · 5h | Blocks rich result eligibility. Meaningful, but not blocking anything upstream. | Queued |
| Top 12 guides last updated 2023 | Content | P2 | Content · 18h | Current SERP rewards freshness for these queries. Refresh beats publishing new. | Queued |
| Faceted URLs consuming crawl budget | Technical | P3 | Dev · 6h | Real waste, but the site is well under crawl limits. Revisit after catalogue expansion. | Backlog |
| LCP 3.1s on mobile category templates | Technical | P3 | Dev · 10h | Above threshold but not the growth blocker here. High effort, low expected movement. | Backlog |
PRIORITY REFLECTS EXPECTED IMPACT ÷ EFFORT, NOT SEVERITY. AN ISSUE CAN BE
REAL AND STILL BELONG IN THE BACKLOG.
EVERY ITEM CARRIES A REASON. IF WE CANNOT EXPLAIN WHY SOMETHING RANKS
WHERE IT DOES, IT DOES NOT GO ON THE LIST.
Diagnosis document
What is blocking growth, evidenced from Search Console and crawl data, not a list of everything that could be improved.
Priority roadmap
Every issue ranked by impact against effort, with the reasoning attached and a realistic implementation order.
Keyword-to-page map
Which URL owns which cluster, so the site stops competing with itself and each page has one unambiguous job.
Monthly performance review
What changed, what it moved, what didn't work, and what happens next month. Written, not just charted.
First-party results
SEO case studies measured in Google Search Console
Both are anonymized client accounts in regulated categories, where content must stay accurate and claims must stay defensible. Figures come directly from GSC comparison exports.
CBD & hemp retail
A retail brand needed visibility across product, local and informational search simultaneously. We refreshed ageing blog content against current SERP behavior, rebuilt internal links into product and category pages, and targeted local buyer intent with dedicated pages.
Cannabis ecommerce, Europe
A European store needed stronger product-page visibility across several language markets. We rewrote product copy for buyer clarity and safer wording, mapped internal links between categories and educational guides, and planned country-level content.
Our commitment
Our SEO agency guarantee: no lock-in, full transparency
We can't guarantee a ranking, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we can guarantee is how the work is done: every recommendation carries a reason, every change is documented, and nothing happens to your site that you haven't seen explained first.
- No lock-in: month-to-month, 30 days' notice, any time
- Full asset handover on exit: audits, briefs, roadmaps, documentation
- You own your Search Console, Analytics and every account we touch
- Every recommendation includes the reasoning behind it
- White-hat only: no bought links, no spun content, no schemes
- If a change we ship makes things worse, we fix it at our cost

SEO should not feel like random monthly activity. It should give a business clearer priorities, stronger pages, better technical structure, and a search system that can grow over time.
Every audit, roadmap and recommendation on this site is produced by Rahul directly. There is no account-manager layer between the analysis and the person explaining it to you, and no junior handoff after the pitch.
The engineering background matters more than it sounds. Most of what limits organic growth is structural: how a site is crawled, how templates render, how authority moves between URLs. Those are systems problems before they are marketing problems. More about SearchCounselCo →
Buyer's guide
How to choose an SEO agency (including whether it should be us)
Six things worth checking before you sign anything, with any provider. If an agency can't answer these clearly, that's your answer.
Ask this
Can they show real Search Console data?
Ask for a screenshot of a client's GSC comparison, not a dashboard from a rank tracker. Rank trackers can be filtered to look good; Search Console is Google's own record.
Walk away if
They guarantee a specific ranking
Nobody controls Google's index. A guaranteed position is either a keyword nobody searches for, or a promise they cannot keep. Both should end the conversation.
Ask this
Who actually does the work?
Many agencies sell with a senior strategist and deliver with a junior. Ask who writes your roadmap, who you speak to monthly, and whether that changes after month three.
Walk away if
They won't explain their link sources
If an agency can't tell you where links come from before they're placed, assume a private network. Those links carry penalty risk that outlives the engagement.
Ask this
What happens if you leave?
Confirm the notice period, whether you keep the audits, briefs and roadmaps, and whether accounts are in your name. Assets built with your budget should stay yours.
Walk away if
The reporting has no recommendation
A monthly report should say what changed, what it moved, what didn't work, and what happens next. A chart with no decision attached is record keeping, not reporting.

What we won't promise
Every claim below is one an agency could make and we won't. Each is paired with what you get instead, because a refusal on its own is just a negative.
No ranking guarantees
Nobody controls Google's index. An agency promising a specific position is either guessing, or targeting a keyword nobody searches.
InsteadA written diagnosis of what is actually capping growth, and a priority order with the reasoning attached to every item.
No fixed timeline promises
Results depend on competition, site condition, existing authority and how fast changes actually ship on your side.
InsteadMonthly reporting that states what moved, what didn't, and what changes next. Meaningful growth takes months, not weeks.
No shortcut tactics
We don't buy links, spin content, or use schemes that create short-term movement and long-term risk.
InsteadWork that survives an algorithm update, because none of it depends on Google failing to notice.
No unsupported claims in regulated niches
In CBD, hemp, health or finance, looser wording often ranks faster. It also attracts letters.
InsteadContent built to hold up to compliance review and to rank, in that order.
No invented testimonials
We don't publish reviews we can't evidence, and we won't borrow someone else's numbers.
InsteadReal Search Console exports, anonymized at client request, that you can check against your own account.

Twelve SEO terms worth knowing before you buy
You shouldn't need a glossary to buy SEO services, but knowing these makes every agency conversation sharper, including this one.
- Crawling →
- How search engines discover pages by following links. If a page can't be crawled, nothing else about it matters.
- Indexing →
- Whether Google has stored your page and is willing to show it. Crawled and indexed are not the same thing.
- Impressions →
- How often your page appeared in search results. Rising impressions with flat clicks is the most common growth problem.
- CTR →
- Click-through rate: the share of impressions that became clicks. Low CTR usually means a title or intent mismatch, not a ranking problem.
- Search intent →
- What the person actually wanted. A page can rank for a keyword and still fail if it answers a different question.
- Cannibalization →
- Two of your pages competing for the same query, splitting the signals so neither ranks well.
- Internal linking →
- Links between your own pages. This is how authority moves around a site, and it's the most under-used lever in SEO.
- Canonical tag →
- A signal telling Google which version of a duplicate page is the real one. Misconfigured canonicals quietly remove pages from search.
- Schema markup →
- Structured code that tells search engines what a page is about in a machine-readable format. Required for most rich results.
- Core Web Vitals →
- Google's page-experience measurements, covering loading speed, interactivity and visual stability.
- E-E-A-T →
- Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust. These are the qualities Google's raters assess, especially on commercial and health topics.
- AI Overviews →
- Google's generated answers above organic results. They absorb clicks, which is why impressions can rise while traffic falls.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How long do SEO services take to show results?
Early movement in impressions, indexing and click-through rate can appear within weeks. Meaningful traffic and enquiry growth generally takes three to six months, and longer in competitive categories. The variables are your site's technical condition, existing authority, competition level, and how quickly recommended changes actually get implemented.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and no ethical SEO agency should. Google's ranking systems aren't controllable by any provider. What we commit to is improving the factors that actually influence visibility: crawlability, relevance, content quality, internal structure and authority signals.
What does the free SEO audit actually include?
A review of your Search Console performance, indexing status, page-level opportunities, technical blockers, internal linking gaps and content coverage, followed by a written summary of what we'd prioritize and why. It's a diagnosis, not a sales document, and there's no obligation to continue afterwards.
What's the difference between SEO consulting and managed SEO?
SEO consulting gives you expert direction: audits, roadmap planning, developer guidance and implementation review, with your team executing. Managed SEO includes ongoing execution, monthly improvements, reporting and long-term optimization. Teams with internal capacity usually want the first; businesses without one usually need the second.
Which markets do you work in?
Engagements to date cover the United States, Germany and France, and the practice takes work from any English-speaking market. Everything runs on shared Search Console access, written documentation and scheduled calls, so the model is identical regardless of time zone. Call overlap is scheduled around your working hours, not ours.
Can you improve existing pages, or do you only create new ones?
Both, and refreshing usually comes first. Most sites already have pages earning impressions that need better intent matching, stronger internal support, improved metadata and updated depth. That's typically faster and cheaper than publishing from scratch. See our case studies for how content refreshes performed.
Do you work with regulated industries like CBD or cannabis?
Yes. Both featured case studies are in regulated categories. These niches need careful wording, accurate claims and strong trust signals. We avoid unsupported medical claims and risky product language, because content that ranks by overstating things tends not to rank for long.
How much do SEO services cost?
Scope drives cost, so we quote after the free audit rather than before it. The audit shows what is actually capping growth and how much work each fix needs, and the quote follows from that. Engagements are month to month with 30 days' notice, so you are never committing to a number before you have seen the diagnosis. What matters more than any figure is whether a provider can show you real Search Console data and explain why each task sits where it does on the list.
How do I choose the right SEO agency?
Ask for real Search Console data rather than rank-tracker screenshots, confirm who actually does the work after the pitch, check where links come from, and confirm what happens to your assets if you leave. Walk away from anyone guaranteeing a specific ranking. Our full buyer's checklist is above.
Are there lock-in contracts?
No. Every engagement is month-to-month with 30 days' notice. If you leave, you keep every asset produced: audits, briefs, roadmaps and documentation, and all accounts remain in your name.
Who will I actually be working with?
Rahul Saini, directly. SearchCounselCo is founder-led, so the person analysing your data is the person explaining it to you and the person accountable for the roadmap.
